Further Information

For many years I have helped people who have suffered the distresses of emotional and physical neglect or harm in childhood.  And I also work with people traumatised as adults.
The damage done may be of a sexual, physical or spiritual nature, or all of these mixed together, and may have occurred in the close or wider family, or at school or boarding school.  Even in religious settings people can be harmed.

Sometimes the 'emotional scar tissue' from early traumas only surface in adulthood when crisis occur, and quite frequently around middle age when life changes take place. The good news is that with patient and careful therapy, substantial healing and recovery can take place, even though this may take several months of regular sessions.

The brain is amazingly creative and regenerative, and when the conditions are right, the brain is able to repair itself and to grow new nerve networks where early damage and delay occurred. Research has shown us that the brain goes on repairing itself right into very old age!

Our emotional life is intricately woven into our physical and nervous systems, and so when one part begins to mend, the other parts do as well, leading to greater emotional health and stability, and often an increase in physical health too.

It is worth remembering that where damage has been caused in unsafe relationships, healing can be found in trustworthy relationships, and this is the kind of supporting environment I aim to offer to you in this practice.
